  • Sumit Sharma’s journey from a humble server to the owner of one of Tbilisi’s most beloved restaurants Khushi Indian Restaurant in Tbilisi, Georgia is a tale of perseverance, passion, and vision.

    The Beginning

    Sumit Sharma arrived in Tbilisi from his native India with little more than a dream of building a better life. As a young man, he found himself in a foreign country, with language barriers and cultural differences, but what he did have was a strong work ethic and a love for food. He quickly secured a job as a waiter in a local restaurant, where he immersed himself in learning the ins and outs of the industry.

    Every shift, Sumit worked tirelessly, not only serving customers but also observing the kitchen, the management, and the intricate details of running a restaurant. He took note of what worked and what didn’t, always thinking of how he could one day create something of his own. His dedication didn’t go unnoticed, and he soon gained the trust of his employer, who promoted him to a managerial position.

    As a manager, Sumit honed his skills in leadership, customer service, and restaurant operations. But his dream didn’t stop there. Saving every penny, he also began developing his ideas for a restaurant that would fuse authentic Indian flavors with the local Georgian palate.

  • The Dream Takes Shape

    In 2017, after years of hard work and planning, Sumit finally opened his own restaurant Khushi Indian Restaurant in Tbilisi. He began by cooking in a small basement kitchen, serving a handful of loyal customers who quickly spread the word about his delicious, homemade dishes. Over time, his passion for food and dedication to quality helped him gain a loyal following. Sumit’s commitment to using fresh ingredients and staying true to traditional recipes resonated with the locals and expats alike. Today, his restaurant Khushi Indian Restaurant stands as one of the top dining destinations in Tbilisi, known not only for its authentic Indian cuisine but also for its warm atmosphere and excellent service. With his unique blend of Indian cuisines, the Khushi Indian Restaurant quickly gained a loyal following. The warm hospitality Sumit had learned as a waiter was now the cornerstone of his establishment. His customers felt more like guests in his home, and the restaurant thrived.
